Sales del Istmo (Cydsa Group) Automates Its End-of-Line Packaging in Mexico with INOX Systems from Innova

In industries such as food or those working with highly corrosive products, packaging must meet particular market requirements. In these environments, machinery made of stainless steel (INOX) is essential to ensure hygiene, durability, and resistance, as in salt production. With this goal in mind, Sales del Istmo, S.A. de C.V., part of Cydsa Group, chose Innova for a packaging line project featuring automatic wrapping technology in INOX finish, capable of meeting both the product’s demanding characteristics and the company’s high production volume.

The new packaging line was installed at Sales del Istmo’s plant in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, one of Cydsa Group’s most important production facilities dedicated to the manufacture and commercialization of salt. Cydsa, a Mexican industrial group with more than 70 years of experience, is a benchmark in Latin America’s chemical and food sectors, with operations in strategic areas such as chemicals, fibers, energy, and especially in the production of high-quality salt for human and industrial consumption. From this plant, Sales del Istmo supplies both the domestic and international markets, consolidating itself as a key player in the food-grade salt supply chain.

Cydsa’s Challenge: Automation and Specialized Equipment

Sales del Istmo required an automatic packaging system capable of meeting two main challenges:

  • Highly corrosive environment: Salt, being a product with strong oxidizing properties, requires stainless steel machinery to ensure durability and optimal operation.
  • High production capacity: Given Cydsa’s strong market demand, both domestically and internationally, the company needed a robust, fast, and reliable system capable of automatically packaging large volumes of salt pallets.

The solution, therefore, had to combine material resistance, packaging safety, and maximum productivity — a challenge Innova met with a packaging project consisting of three automatic wrapping systems, all built entirely in stainless steel.

Innova already had experience and installed systems for clients operating in corrosive or humid environments — such as food, frozen, and refrigerated product sectors — so its expertise as a specialized manufacturer was key to successfully executing Cydsa’s project.

Innova’s Solution: Arm Wrapping Systems in INOX

To meet Cydsa’s automation requirements, Innova designed and installed three AWS Pro rotary arm wrapping systems, manufactured entirely in stainless steel.

Each system is also equipped with a dual-arm wrapping configuration, an advanced setup that allows for:

  • Higher packaging speed, optimizing work cycles.
  • A uniform and consistent finish on each pallet, even with large production volumes.

The installed AWS Pro wrappers also feature Innova’s patented Rope Gripping system, which ensures a tighter and more secure final film seal without the need for heat or adhesives — guaranteeing load integrity during transportation and storage.

Results for Cydsa: More Than Just Automation

Thanks to this project, Cydsa has fully automated its end-of-line packaging, adapting its production line to the stringent requirements of the food industry and the demanding conditions of a product that is both food-grade and highly corrosive, such as salt.

The main benefits achieved by Cydsa include enhanced durability and resistance of the machinery in a highly corrosive environment, ensured by the stainless-steel construction; increased productivity, thanks to the installation of three dual-arm wrapping systems; and maximum load security, provided by the patented Rope Gripping system. All of this translates into more efficient and sustainable packaging, as it eliminates the need for additional consumables such as adhesives or heat-based sealing systems.

Cydsa has expressed great satisfaction with the solution, highlighting Innova’s ability to adapt its technology to specific needs and overcome the automation challenge.

For Innova, this project represents an opportunity to demonstrate its ability to adapt packaging technology to the specific requirements of each industry. The installation of INOX wrapping systems for Cydsa reflects the company’s commitment to innovation and flexibility, delivering solutions that address concrete challenges such as corrosion resistance and high productivity.

Beyond technology, projects like Cydsa’s strengthen Innova’s position as a trusted partner for companies seeking to automate their end-of-line packaging with guaranteed efficiency, safety, and durability. Furthermore, in Mexico, Innova provides local service and support to all Mexican companies from its branch in Querétaro, offering technical and commercial consulting, on-site service, a warehouse with machinery, and immediate access to spare parts.
