Innova’s TOP packaging lines for the food industry: maximum protection and hygiene

How can you design a packaging line that guarantees maximum hygiene and safety during the transport and storage of food products? Which systems are best suited to protecting these types of loads throughout the entire supply chain?

The food industry has very specific hygiene and preservation requirements. Loads of packaged food, canned goods, fresh products or ingredients in bags require complete sealing and protection against external agents to prevent contamination or product deterioration.

In this article, we review some of Innova Group’s most outstanding solutions and projects for the food industry, designed to meet the high standards of quality, safety and efficiency required by this sector.

TOP food packaging lines by Innova Group

  1. COVAP: complete end-of-line renewal with Stretch Hood
  2. Vignobles & Compagnie: automation and maximum protection with a ring wrapper
  3. Sales del Istmo (Cydsa Group): Automation with stainless-steel systems in Mexico
  4. Riberega: load securing and stability with an automatic rotary arm wrapper
  5. Nutriart: Stretch Hood and strapping to protect its chocolate boxes

1. COVAP: complete end-of-line renewal with Stretch Hood

The Andalusian agri-food cooperative COVAP chose to renew the end-of-line system at its main plant in Pozoblanco (Córdoba), installing two Stretch Hood lines. The objective was to incorporate a more efficient and sustainable hooding solution that would meet the visual quality standards currently demanded by the food market.

Challenge: COVAP was looking for a more homogeneous final load, with transparent, wrinkle-free wrapping and enhanced protection against dust, moisture and possible friction during transport. It also needed to increase productivity and reduce plastic consumption per pallet, in line with its sustainability commitments.

Solution: Innova installed two Stretch Hood lines with two film rolls for greater pallet hooding productivity and to accommodate COVAP’s different pallet formats.

Results: COVAP achieved a faster, more sustainable and efficient end-of-line process, guaranteeing maximum protection and hygiene for its food products. Stretch Hood technology has not only enhanced its brand image but also ensured a high-productivity logistics flow with no interruptions while optimising film consumption.

2. Vignobles & Compagnie: automation and maximum protection with a ring wrapper

The French company, a leading name in the wine industry, relied on Innova’s technology to install a state-of-the-art packaging line at its facility in Castillon-du-Gard, France.

Challenge: Vignobles & Compagnie needed a fully automated end-of-line system that would eliminate any vibration or movement of wine boxes during transport, with technology capable of guaranteeing maximum stability and protection throughout the entire logistics chain.

Solution: To meet this requirement, Innova installed an automatic ring wrapper with a top film applicator (cover) to provide an additional layer of protection.

Results: Vignobles & Compagnie achieved fully stable and protected loads, ensuring that their products reached the end customer intact.

3. Sales del Istmo (Cydsa Group): Automation with stainless-steel systems in Mexico

Sales del Istmo relied on Innova to install a state-of-the-art line with stainless-steel finishes at its plant in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, one of Grupo Cydsa’s most important production facilities dedicated to the production and marketing of salt.

Challenge: Sales del Istmo required an automatic packaging system capable of addressing two main challenges: a highly corrosive environment and high production capacity.

Solution: At Innova, we designed and installed three rotary arm wrapping systems, manufactured entirely from stainless steel and equipped with double wrapping arms.

Results: Cydsa obtained a durable end-of-line system resistant to the highly corrosive environment in which it operates, while also increasing the productivity and efficiency of its plant.

4. Riberega: load securing and stability with an automatic rotary arm wrapper

Riberega S. Coop., a Navarre-based cooperative specialising in fruit and vegetable preserves, opted for Innova’s latest-generation systems to optimise the end-of-line process at its plant in Castejón (Navarra).

Challenge: Riberega needed a system capable of securing and stabilising its multi-format loads to improve transport safety.

Solution: Innova developed and installed an automatic rotary arm wrapper with a top load-securing accessory to secure the load during the wrapping process.

Results: Riberega improved the safety of its loads during both the wrapping process and subsequent handling, thereby preventing losses during transport.

5. Nutriart: Stretch Hood and strapping to protect its chocolate boxes

El fabricante canadiense de chocolate, Nutriart, confió en la tecnología de Innova para elevar la eficiencia de su línea de producción y garantizar la entrega segura de sus cargas.

Challenge: Nutriart required a new packaging solution because its previous system presented issues such as inefficient film usage, limited protection and the need for constant manual adjustments.

Solution: To address the Canadian company’s needs, Innova designed and manufactured a packaging line comprising a vertical strapping system with an exclusive lateral frame displacement system, together with a double-roll Stretch Hood system.

Results: Nutriart achieved superior protection for its chocolate boxes, ensuring that products remained intact and undamaged throughout the supply chain. Load stability increased significantly thanks to the ability to strap all four sides without moving the pallet, while the double-roll system eliminated the need for continuous manual adjustments.

In conclusion, Innova Group’s packaging systems have established themselves as highly effective solutions for meeting the demanding requirements of the food industry. With systems such as Stretch Hood and automatic stretch wrappers, companies in the sector have been able to achieve their goals in terms of protection, hygiene, load securing and operational efficiency. At Innova, we work to ensure that our solutions meet the specific requirements of the food industry.
